I, Persephone
Copyright K. Kozak, 2008. ===
I, Persephone, refuse to accept
The cycle of birth and death;
The endless progression of aging
That has been recognized for Ages...
But, this time, it was my dear mother,
Not I, who descended into the
Cold, dark caverns of the earth.
Perhaps, Nature is listening to me --
Spring and Winter weather reverse daily;
This morning, there was snow clumped
On tender, green Daffodil leaves...
I would surrender Spring, Summer and Fall,
To have my sweet, clever loving mom,
My lifelong teacher and mentor, back...
Life goes on, I suppose, but not the best;
She lives in my memories, letters, photos,
And in unsuspecting, sad reminders.....
