Simply Sisyphus

No one remembers his lackluster crme:
Always an annoying, lying trickster...
But his punishment endures, forever --
Synonymous with the name of Sisyphus.
His entire world defined by his struggle:
Endlessly shouldering a huge boulder,
Pushing it up to the top of a mountain,
Only to watch it roll all the way down.
Today, anyone stuck in a dead-end job;
Caught between lack of benefits, insurance;
Juggling a sub-prime mortgage, credit debt;
Confused by endlessly-increasing taxes;
Hanging onto a loveless, desperate marriage,
On the edge of divorce and custody
battles...
Sometimes it feels like being simply Sisyphus:
Deadened, exhausted, but eternally
determined
