Wednesday, Veteran's Day, November 11, 7:30, the Eat Your Heart Out SIG. Kerin writes: We'll toast our Veterans at Sheri's Grill & Bar, 121 N. Highway 6, Milford, Nebraska. Follow Interstate 80 about 15 miles west of Lincoln. Take Exit 382, turning south onto US-6. Sherri's is about 3-and-a-half miles down the road. I hear the food is fabulous!

Saturday, November 14th, 7pm - Dine-Out SIG meets at The Spaghetti Works, 502 South 11th St., in the Old Market. I had my very first-ever date there at age 16 (I am now 51 years old.) That's how long this place has been here. Brings a little nostalgic tear to my eye. One reason this place is still very popular is that it offers an incredible value: You can have a great meal here, including an appetizer or dessert, plus an alcoholic beverage - and include a nice tip - for less than $15 a person. Especially In this economy, that's a good deal! Please Note: The Omaha Food Bank is currently desperate for donations. If you attend this Dine-Out, please bring two cans of food with you. Couples please bring four cans of food. If you bring veggies or fruit, this will cost you only $2-4. Suzanne will deliver your donations to the Food Bank the Monday after the Dine-Out. Thanks for caring, during a very busy time of need. If you want pasta - choose from fettuccini, angel hair, bow tie, or mostaccioli. Then decide what pasta sauce you want to top it off with: spicy marinara, red clam, white clam, beer cheese, hot naked (no sauce, but mixed with olive oil), chili, Alfredo, pesto cream - and the list goes on. If you want, you can also add some of this stuff, too: roasted peppers and onions, sauteed shrimp, primavera (mixed veggies), chicken livers, sweet Italian sausage - and the list goes on. Want an appetizer? They've got you covered there, too: garlic bread, popcorn chicken nuggets, cheese sticks, toasted ravioli - and the list goes on. Not into pasta? That's okay - on offer are a variety of burgers, PLUS herb-roasted chicken, Cajun shrimp, Alfredo chicken, chicken parmesan - and others entrees, as well. Including delicious Pizza. Most anything you order comes with a trip to their gargantuan salad bar. Beverages? Well - they offer over 20 flavors of Italian soda (non-alcoholic.) Plus wines (so nice with Italian food), cocktails AND a large variety of domestic, imported and micro-brewed beers Lots of different desserts, too (like you'll even have "room" for dessert. HA!) Why not join us? It's not expensive - so you can save your money for those holiday gifts you'll probably be buying soon. Cash and major credit cards accepted but NO CHECKS. Ask the host person where the Sears-Mensa group is sitting. Please reserve your spot by Friday, November 13th, with Suzanne Sears at sue.sears@cox.net, or 402-933-1785. PARKING: You can park along the street in the Old market on weekends without having to feed the parking meters. There is also a pay lot, between 10th-11th & Jackson Street in the Old Market, that usually has plenty of spots. Hope to see you there!

Monday, November 16, 7pm, the “NWIM Roundtable Discussion.” This is designed to be equally fun for the volunteer debaters AND clueless audience members... as the debaters attempt to sway the votes of the audience. First, the audience will vote on the issue. Debaters will make presentations, audience can ask questions(!), debaters can “counter,” audience can throw Nerf objects. Optionally they can look things up on the internet. Reasonable munchies will be served. Audience votes a final time... the “winner” is the debater who sways the most audience members to their side. Volunteers for debaters are still welcome as of this writing. Email dave-keller@cox.net or ask/answer questions on the list-serve for obviously on-going details and changing conditions and the potential subject list. Directions: 1101 Ironwood Ct., Apt #190, Building 18, Bellevue. Call 291-9534 if you get lost. From Omaha, go south down Hwy. 75 to the Cornhusker St. exit, go left/east about a mile to Lincoln Blvd. (the Bellevue Library and the Bellevue East scrolling info sign is at this intersection). Turn left/north and go about ½ mile up and past the hill. Look for the cars parked on the sidewalk on the right in front of the apartments.
